Sew Simple Elegance is a to-the-trade studio workroom, owned and operated by Cathie Gulliver, centrally located near Stone Road Mall in Guelph, Ontario. Cathie enjoys a lifetime passion for sewing, is both UK and US trained and specializes in producing hand-crafted window treatments incorporating the best of European and North American techniques of fabrication.
Cathie is one of only a few people in Canada who is a graduate of both the ‘Window Coverings Career Professional Program’ and the ‘Advanced Window Coverings Career Professional Program’ offered by the Custom Home Furnishings Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina, the only school of its kind in the world.
Cathie originally began her window treatments career in the UK where she also received her certification in ‘Professional Curtain Making and Soft Furnishings’ from the National Design Academy in Nottingham, England. Cathie is, therefore, in a unique position of having gained experience using both North American and European methods of fabrication.
Cathie's passion for sewing started at a very young age. Over the years she has fueled her passion with many specialized courses but her main passion during her business days was in the area of tailoring. During her time in England she also took courses with The English Couture Company when it was owned and operated by the original founder, Terry Fox. The precision required in tailoring enhances Cathie's attention to detail during the construction of her window treatments.
Cathie is also an occasional contributor of step-by-step articles to the international industry professional ‘Drapery and Design Professional’ and is an on-going member of both the ‘Custom Home Furnishings Network’ and the ‘Canadian Workroom Association’.
